Drukmo Gyal Dakini--visiting New York City to teach this workshop during a multi-city tour of the United States--is trained in both the medical and yogic traditions of Tibet. She will teach the basic theory behind Tibetan Mantra Healing, transmit the mantras that treat the inner and sense organs, known in Tibetan Medicine as the ‘five flowers,’ and teach the corresponding breath and movement exercises from a Tibetan system of therapeutic yoga called Nejang. A professional singer who tours the world performing, she will share her healing melodies for us to chant together as a group.
Mantra healing is the practice of using sound as a healing medium -- the primordial sounds of nature, as well as divine words from the Sanskrit and Tibetan languages. It is a powerful method of bringing balance to various diseases, restoring health, and protecting against future disease for oneself and others. Nejang healing yoga incorporates breath and gentle movement mostly done while seated, and can easily be practiced for self-care.
Drukmo Gyal is from Amdo in the Northeastern part of Tibet; her Yogi family introduced mantra, meditation and yoga to her growing up as family tradition, and with the support of her grandparents and mother Drukmo practiced mantra with both traditional and self-composed melodies. She came to Europe in 2014 to teach for Sorig Khang International and tours the world regularly to teach and perform.
